All of the Semillon fruit produced on the Mangan Vineyard in previous years has been used, in combination with that Vineyard’s Sauvignon Blanc, to produce an excellent blend that compliments the style produced by the same varieties on the Cullen Vineyard. However, the great potential and individuality of the Semillon produced on the Mangan Vineyard, which reflects the particular terroir and aspect of that vineyard, has long been recognized. Thus, in 2008, it was decided to use a small amount of the Mangan Vineyard Semillon grapes to produce a straight varietal from this great Bordeaux white grape. This wine represents the first Semillon produced at Cullen Wines for 13 years and its exceptional quality is certain to ensure that it will not be another 13 years before the experiment is repeated!

The Semillon fruit was picked at Baumés ranging from 10 to 13º, which has ensured that the wine has an excellent balance of rich fruit and good acidity and an ideal alcohol level of 12%. Twenty two percent of the wine was fermented and matured in French oak.
