This Rosé has been made from the Malbec from the Mangan vineyard with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Cullen Vineyard. It was hand harvested and sorted then made in the traditional French Saigné method after spending three hours on skins.

The quality wine was produced on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Dry farmed Merlot grapes were hand picked at the Mangan vineyard and naturally fermented.

Although there was substantial rainfall during the growing season leading up to the 2012 vintage, the warm and dry weather that followed in January led to the production of fruit of exceptional quality.  As Sauvignon Blanc was one of the varieties that performed particularly well in 2012, it was

This wine, together with the 2011 Kevin John Chardonnay, unequivocally demonstrates that the 2011 vintage at Cullen Wines was excellent for both white and red grape varieties.  This Diana Madeline has outstanding and pristine fruit clarity.

This wine is the first release of our ‘little brother” Kevin John Chardonnay, which we have named the Cullen Vineyard Chardonnay.

The Mangan red wine is becoming increasingly popular, which is not surprising when you consider the quality and attractiveness of this wine style which is unique to Cullen Wines.

This is the first time that Cullen Wines have decided to make a wine predominantly from Semillon since the delicious wine they made from this grape variety in the 2008 vintage.

As usual, this blend contains a greater volume of Sauvignon Blanc than Semillon, which reflects the outstanding qualities of the fruit produced by the former variety on the Cullen Vineyard, while recognising that it can still be enhanced by the complimentary characteristics of the latter variety.

Cullen Wines regard this vintage of its Margaret River White as an outstanding expression of this wine style. The winemakers at Cullen went to considerable lengths to blend together, in the right proportion, fruit from all of the white grape varieties grown in the vineyard.

This is a first rate example of the unique style that has been developed by Cullen Wines from blending the two great white grape varieties of Bordeaux.

This Chardonnay was made from fruit grown on three separate blocks, in which the loamy surface soil overlays laterite and clay. The oldest Chardonnay vines were planted in 1976 and the youngest in 1988 and thus even the latter are well over twenty years old.

2010 was the fourth outstanding vintage in Margaret River and this applied to both red and white varieties. During November 2009, there was good rainfall, which helped carry the vines through some hot weather in subsequent months.

Vanya has referred to 2009 as the Mozart vintage because all of the wines produced in that year are in perfect harmony and balance. The quality, purity and vibrancy of the fruit produced in 2009 are exquisitely expressed in the Diana Madeline of this year.
