This is a great example, and possibly the best yet, of a unique blend of red grape varieties and which is made from fruit grown on the family’s Mangan Vineyard. In comparison with previous vintages, the contribution of Merlot (50%) exceeds that of Malbec (14%). The other component of the blend is Petit Verdot (36%). The low cropping levels of less than one tonne to the acre in 2006 help account for the great intensity and depth of this wine, which also benefited from being matured for nine months in high quality French oak.
Colour: Brilliant and incredibly vibrant purple rich red.
Bouquet: Attractive amalgam of perfumed and rich plum aromas.
Palate: The rich and seductive plum flavours that fill out the middle plate are well integrated with the camomile tea characters and wonderfully soft tannins.
Cellar: Up to 15 years.
Food: Pork, chicken, duck and lamb.
