2015 Diana Madeline – 98 Points from Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

This year’s new release of flagship wine, the 2015 Diana Madeline has received a stunning 98 point rating from wine writer and reviewer Gary Walsh.

‘Cabernet is what I’d call my ‘home ground’, and while I’d suggest that there’s an excessive amount of high scoring wines in this country these days, all I can offer by way of humble apology, is that you rarely see those kind of scores dished out at The Wine Front. They are rare birds here, which is as it should be. This wine hit me, straight off the bat, the same way the 2014 Tyrrell’s 4 Acres did. Hit me for six.

Violet and subtle leafy perfume, pure black and red fruit, baking spices, aniseed and mocha. Medium bodied, the precision here, the generous delivery of flavour trimmed of excess, seems like the work of the truly gifted: how do you make it look so easy? Sculptured tannin, ribbons of clear acidity, and length that soars. Truly, a masterpiece of Australian Cabernet.
