2021 Grace Madeline

Grace Madeline is Diana Madeline’s mother and Vanya Cullen’s maternal grand-mother. This wine named in her honour is a blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Semillon.

The Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines were planted on their own roots in 1976, and are farmed with 100% certified biodynamic, carbon positive methods.

The 2021 vintage was cooler than previous years creating greater aromatics. Once harvested the grapes are simply crushed to stainless steel and oak with over night skin contact.
Barrel-aged for 5 months in 72% new oak.

Vintage Notes

The 2021 harvest was defined by Covid and staff restrictions for hand harvesting.

The low yields ensured that the crop was harvested at optimal condition and ripeness. The harvest provided some challenges, with bird pressure and rain events during the growing seasons.

In spite of these adverse conditions, in Wilyabrup, we finished harvest in good time and are very happy with the wines.

Standout varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
